001 - Benjamin

Benjamin is the bonsai that started it all.

In 2024 as I prepared to build a new pond during my sabbatical, I decided one of the key decorative elements would be a bonsai…maybe two. I enrolled in a course at Tsugawa Nursery in Longview Washington and fell in love with a new hobby.

I couldn’t leave that place without purchasing my first “tree in pot”. And so Benjamin came home with me. Then went on vacation to the Oregon coast with Monica and I so I could ensure he was watered just right. Though my collection of trees is ever growing, he will always be number one.
